Yep, NBA is all about potential... They trust being able to develop kids once they're drafted

The development is all because of Will Wade. Naz would have been content to stay on the perimeter all year and shoot three's. Coach Wade made him a part of an offense that taught him the pick and roll game, using off ball screens to get free and even posting up some. And oh yeah, made him a much better defender and rebounder.

Yes, he still needs a lot of improvement on most of his game and could be a super star next year in college if that happens. But to think the NBA won't take him and he will turn down the cash is just unrealistic.

zhaire smith outta texas tech last year was the perfect example of this. was no where near ready for the NBA but went first round based off of pure potential/athleticism

I'm going to respectfully disagree with that assessment.

Baseball is a sport that is about potential and the ability to improve in lower class ball until fully developed. That is why there are so many draft rounds in baseball.

NBA teams get a limited number of draft picks and they expect those drafted to contribute right away.There are notable exceptions to that rule but it is by and large the way the NBA works.
