Budget?
I’m thinking around 1% or less to build this thing and save a few folks lives.

I heard it was less than a percent...something ridiculous like 1/10 of 1%

If our budget is $1 Trillion dollars, a typical number, & we ask for $5B, that is 00.05% of the federal budget.
For reference, this current budget is supplying $13B in foreign aid to Central American shithole countries.

It's basically .04 percent of a year's budget.

On a $4.1T budget, $5B is
0.121951219%
0.121951219%

Also for reference, our annual budget is over $4 trillion. By my math, the $5 billion for the wall would be 0.00125% of federal expeditures for the year
ETA: math wrong - should be 0.125%

Also, for reference, for the 95,672,000 of us (55.6% of wage earners) that actually pay taxes, that represents an additional tax burden of $52 each for the year.

Yeah because it's not like 5 billion could do anything anyway. I say light it on fire

It's not even that after corporate tax, tariffs, etc.
Probably just a few bucks per taxpayer.

This situation has zero to do with the money.
100% about not letting MAGA get a win and fulfill a promise.
There is some debate about the need for a wall and the effectiveness of it, sure. But at the end of the day this is entirely political.

Considering how much welfare goes to drug users, I'd say we essentially light way more than that on fire every year.
Since you fully support that expenditure, I'll assume you were being sincere with no sarcasm in the above quote.

Yeah it's like we're just handing out checks to people left and right.

Of course I'm being serious. We should show those liberals by just lighting stacks of money on fire and show them what kind of conservatives we are.

That would make "us" liberals.

nope
40% of wage earners don't pay federal tax either.

Median income in Houston is about $70k - equivalent cost of the Wall is literally
$3.50.
$3.50.
