think a year in the Centroplex while they built a new arena on site would be pretty cool. 9,000 people in the pretty close to the floor intimate atmosphere. It would probably be rocking.

The guy I know close to the program told me the plan is to build a new PMAC and play a season in the river center

They need to tear down the Cow Palace and build a basketball complex there and leave the PMAC for gymnastics etc. The parking is already right there and it's a pretty convenient area of campus to get to.

With the Practice Facility being less than 9 years old (Opened 9/10) and built adjacent to the PMAC, I do not think building a new facility is the best option. Yes, it may cost more money initially, but renovating the current facility would be best. The location is great, infrastructure is there, the biggest problem is interior layout. Facilities built in similar time to the PMAC in the SEC were renovated or are being renovated and have all the modern amenities as new arenas(O'Connell Center @ Florida 2016, Stegeman@Georgia 2010, Thomson Boling@Tennessee 2018, etc)

I just don't see them demoing the PMAC. The structure is in great shape and could accommodate all kinds of different renovation options.

Right but if you go the route of moving stuff to the river center for a season then you just build the new arena where the old one was... Then you get to keep the practice facility

quit wasting athletics money on academics

The reason athletics exist is extracurriculer activties for the students

Big business has made that mission almost obsolete

But, athletics exist because of the university not the other way around, academics are the primary mission of the university, not to entertain fans who probably heve never seen the inside of an academic building on campus

i put you into that category, the loud ignorant minority who don't have any clue how a university operates or the value a universtiy is to the economy of a city

wasting money? how bout you quit breathing and wasting oxygen you inbred, low life pos

one more thing get a life

edit: sorry for the grammar, but i am prejudiced against stupid and this poster is as stupid as it gets

Demoing the PMAC just doesn't make sense to me. You could build the new basketball facility else where and have separate facilities for all sports.

Like someone else mentioned, demo the cow palace and rebuild in that location. You could keep all teams playing in the pmac until completed.

I couldn't disagree with you more.
