I think some legitimately can't or struggle to do this, and it makes me sad.
By way of example, the Masters is in a couple months. The last 3-4 months have been pretty shitty for us, but man do I love the Masters. It's not going to change my life, but I'm going to enjoy it and it's one of a number of small things on my radar to look forward to.
Sure, if I thought really hard about it I'd realize it's a tournament played by more successful and wealthy people and that I'm just some passive, useful idiot to be advertised to, but it's the fricking Masters man. Can't wait.

i do all the basic copes - sex, travel, fitness, drugs, festivals etc
not suicidal or anything, im luckier than most
average life is still depressing compared to an elite lifestyle
