New Coach/GM

Who are your current choices for the next regime if this were to occur?
Does anybody believe a chance for a return for Monty Williams? Does Monty still have a good relationship with Gayle/Mickey?
I would prefer someone who values team building/culture, like a Budenholzer or Atkinson, making this a player first organization

C'mon guys...this is a new poster who is searching for somewhere to talk Pelicans and you guys are acting like a jerk!
Sorry, OP, for those rude posters. We aren't all like that :)
Good question... Personally I like the combo of Dan Tolzman and Jerry Stackhouse. My hope is that they develop players and are a little more patient in the next go around!
Again, I apologise for the Gary Grumpypants on this board!!

Stack would want to push the pace, shoot a lot of 3s and likes to develop as well. He is also a tough SOB and would demand his teams play that way as well
As for Hammond, I wouldn't pretend to know and nobody else should either. The only time we ever really saw her coach is at Summer League. Is she smart? Yes. Does she know the game? Of course.
But her qualifications on paper are nothing in comparison to even the other men she shares a bench with in San Antonio. You would be taking a total shot in the dark with little or nothing of substance to back up your decision.

You give Becky Hammon strong consideration, including multiple interviews, if for nothing else than league optics. Play her up as a legitimate candidate hard pre-lottery in hopes the positive PR for the NBA gets Silver to play with our balls in a way we like.
I’d prefer we go in a different direction, but wouldn’t be pissed if we actually brought in Hammon as HC.
ETA: What are the odds Finch is retained?

Budenholzer would have this team in the top four mix in the West.
Davis would not have requested a trade and the Pelicans would have been buyers at the deadline.
For comparison
Davis and Antetokounmpo are equally as talented.
Holiday is better than Middleton.
The rest of the Pelicans are about equal to the rest of the Bucks prior to the trade deadline. Problem with the Pelicans was their roster did not allow their best five players to be on the court at the same time.

For continuity sake you keep Finch around. His offense is great. You just need make sure the 1st Assistant is a tough-nosed defensive-minded coach.
As far GM's are concerned, I'd love to bring Connelly home, but I really aim for Ainge (Danny's son) or Tolzman.
If I have to go outside the organization for a HC my first call is Ettore Messina.

No way I tell the new HC that he has to keep anybody on the staff. Just like I wouldn't tell a new POBO he has to keep anybody in the front office.
You gotta hire people and give them the runway to bring in whoever they want. Keep whoever they want.
It can't be this one foot in, one foot out BS anymore. Go interview a bunch of candidates for POBO and hire one. Then he can interview a bunch of FO guys l, including our current ones, and put together the best FO
Then, do the same with coaches. If Ferry or Finch or whoever are best for jobs after interviewing as many people as you possibly can...cool.
But that becomes the decision of the new guys hired above them and they have to interview just like everyone else.

At this point it's Stackhouse or Hammond. I really want Hammond to be our coach only if she has what it takes from a scheme/leadership standpoint. The PR and league perception alone will give possibly give us a forward thinking identity at least even before we step on the court. Silver and others would definitely freeze some trees for us

WHat's that phrase again, pot calling the kettle????

This is never going to work if you don't perform a thorough GM search and let the new GM hire his own coach. Forcing a coach on Tolzman is not the right way to start off the reboot of the Pels franchise.
ETA - Just in case, this is sarcasm. We should be asking about POBO hires first.
