Well, then there’s no hope for your children, unless they have other influences.
The service aspect for a college admission application can not be over emphasized. But this shouldn’t surprise anyone. This is not a modern libral preversion. It is a quintessentially western concept. They don’t award Eagle Scout to the kid who scores the highest on the archery merit badge. Eagle candidacy is judged on the final service project, because the only scouts who deserve to be awarded Eagle are the ones who do their work then turn back and help others. Service demonstrates their character and finishing. Service, in addition to academics, tells the school that you are a good person who will be a positive leader. Having a history of service as a young person can’t hurt, and the absence of service doesn’t help.
