re: Celtics offer predictions

As a Celtics fan, I love reading this. Watching all of this from afar, a lot of folks are way too high on Jaylen and some of the Lakers prospects, and way too low on Smart and that Grizz pick. Put the box scores down and watch the games.
Smart has been a primary factor in winning dozens of games a year for us, for several years in a row. I hope, hope, hope, that we are somehow able to keep him out of a deal. Not only is he just flat out superior to overrated slobs like Kuzma or Rozier (even on his current salary), if I am building a winning team, give me Marcus over fake star prospects like Ingram or Jaylen all day long. More talented, yes, but they just aren't wired to kick arse.
Look at any title or contending team. Far more often than not, you have real stars like AD surrounded with pit bulls like Marcus. You don't see guys like Ingram or Jaylen. Get real stars and not the Walmart version of them. Who cares if they can score 23 a game if it takes them 19 shots and they give up 30 on the other end while contributing nothing else but scoring?
Yes, you are not a contender and looking to tank, but (a) the game done changed with the new lottery odds and sheer number of tanking teams, and (b) you still need a solid culture in place that can develop your top prospects. Otherwise, they will develop bad habits without learning what it takes to win. Just look at the Lakers and Sixers. Not going to get those guys back in the box learning to play the right way at this point.
On a related note, I'm not sure how strong AD's market is really going to be this summer. Do the Knicks really trade Zion at this point? I thought it was a given if they land the #1 pick, KD and Kyrie, now I am not so sure. Barrett or Morant plus Knox and a bunch of scraps? Ehhhhh.
Not saying Boston gets out of this without giving up Tatum and other substantial assets, but IMO Tatum, the Grizz pick and either one of Smart or Jaylen easily beats out anything the Lakers or Knicks can throw at you if Zion isn't on the table.
If it ends up at that point, and you guys have to choose between Smart or Jaylen, I go Smart all day if I am you. He's a leader and a winner.

Move analysis. I haven’t seen the C’s play at all this year, and only a little in the playoffs last year, so it’s really interesting to hear your perspective on Brown. I think y’all will have the best package for AD, but I do think the Knicks would give up Zion, and I would find a package built around Morant and Know enticing. I really like Morant and would be looking for multiple picks to go worth them.

on top of what you've said about Smart vs Brown, Smart is cost controlled whereas Brown will command a near max deal (at least grossly overpaid) when his rookie contract is up. I like Jaylen, he'll be a solid NBA player, but he's not someone I want to build around. If we got him, I'm trading him because I do think he has value and someone will overvalue him tremendously
In regards to AD's value, I actually completely disagree with you. He's still a top 5 player in his prime and now his preferred destination is looking pretty tumultuous. Add in the fact that AD will be the first domino to fall since a trade will be agreed to after the draft lottery. I think it'll be a bidding war
