I think they’re not SUPPOSED TO raise their prices to compensate, but several restaurants I have looked at ordering from do it. I wonder if they have someone that reviews the menus periodically or if they depend on users to report stuff like this.
Okay, just saw the BR Business Report article from Monday. Waitr released new terms which include the rate hikes AND terms stating that they can't charge more than menu price.
quote:

Based on the terms of the new agreement, partner restaurants with food sales from the Waitr platform exceeding $20,000 will be charged a 15% commission from Waitr for every transaction. The commission increases in brackets, reaching a cap at 25% for restaurants with monthly food sales at or below $1,000. The terms also prohibit restaurants from charging a higher price for food ordered through Waitr than regular, in-restaurant transactions, instead passing along the fees charged by credit card companies to the restaurants.

What’s their reasoning for not allowing restaurants to raise their prices? Restaurants have the same motivation to sell to customers. I don’t see how a business thinks a restaurant can eat 25% cost increase. Frankly that’s a laughable idea.
