Philippines travelers: help a brotha out

My gf and I are heading to the Philippines for a week on the 3rd leg of a 3 week trip to Asia. I must say this is one of the more overwhelming countries I've tried to plan for. Most countries I've been to have the main cities or sights that you "must see" or "must do", but there seems to be such a wide variety of places to go here it's giving me a headache.
Both of us are more into the adventurous and outdoorsy type stuff. We're not really into lounging around at a resort, or the super fancy type.
We don't plan to spend much of any time in Manila except for flights, and we've also eliminated the popular hotspot of Boracay.
At this point we're leaning towards spending the whole week on Palawan, around El Nido, and venturing off from there for island hopping, jungle hiking, etc.
Any recommendations, experiences, or advice is greatly appreciated. TIA

Boracay or Palawan...
Why the hell wouldn’t you go to at least one of those two place?
GOOOOO
You can thank me later

Good idea. It's a dump.
Palawan - Unfortunately my short stay there for work ended up way busier than I had expected and I didn't get to see much of anything. Underground river looks cool.

Well currently Palawan is the itinerary.
Boracay on the other hand didn't really interest us with how busy it is. They actually recently closed the island down to tourists for 6 months because it was getting overrun. That's all I needed to hear to not want to go.

You can do the hike to the lake at Mount Pinatubo.
It's a pretty treacherous 7km hike to the lake. Or at least it felt that way with a hangover.
Well worth it though as the lake and view is beautiful.

Just did part of my honeymoon in the Philippines in November 2018. Spent 3 days in coron, 2 days in el nido, and 3 days on noa noa island. I would highly recommend a palawan itinerary similar to this. Noa noa island was an amazing place to finish off the trip, the best place I've stayed on any of my travels so far.

Shaking my damn head... Pardon my french and no offense, but why not do some further research before making such an uninformed determination?
Yeah, they shut it down in order to fix the overcrowding and damage to the island.
I was just there two months ago. It is absolutely beautiful and in no way crowded whatsoever. Them shutting it down and putting more stringent controls on it made it amazing. I will go back sometime within the next year.
Your loss

Thanks for the info, I'll look into it more. That's why I'm here asking. To be fair, your initial post didn't really provide anything of substance.

If I knew how, I’d post pics for you... In any pic I took of the beach/water, there weren’t more than 30-40 people in the shot. The nearest person laying out on the beach was easily 10yrds away.
Look up “The District at Boracay”. It’s about a 15 min side car ride from the boat dock. Very nice hotel right on the water.

2 days in el nido
If you don't mind me asking, where did y'all stay in El Nido and what did y'all do those 3 days? Did you do any of the island hopping tours?

This place looks amazing, although it's a bit pricey. I wish they didn't have a 3 night minimum.

We stayed at el nido seashell hotel. It was fine but probably our least favorite place we stayed on the trip. You can find a better place. We did island hopping tour A the first day and canceled our tour the second day due to rain. Ended up doing the zip line and hanging out at the beach once the rain stopped. Check out the birdhouse restaurant for sunset dinner if you end up going to el nido. Noa noa island is pricey, we had the cheapest smallest room. It's great value for your money though so if you can swing it I highly recommend it. We liked coron better than el nido. It was a lot less touristy compared to el nido and better value for the money. I feel like el nido is becoming the next boracay, there's a lot of construction going on to build it up as the next big destination in the Philippines.
