Unless someone is lying, don't their stories ALWAYS change a bit, mostly by remembering more details or something like that? Their stories never "Never change" unless they are rehearsed beforehand and memorized, much like an actor would do in a, say, a TV show.

And they don't change by remembering completely new and outrageous facts, either. "I was beat up." "Anything else?" "Nope. that's it." Ok". next day... "Oh yeah, I remember now. They was white. With hoods. And red MAGA hats on top of they hoods. And a noose. That they put around my neck. And yelled racially charged phrases at me."
