Looking to get one or two new base layer sets for deer hunting. Throw out all my old and garbage crap. I'm always flexible on price range, i just like to be assured that i'm paying for quality and not just a name brand. Hoping some of this gets on sale pretty soon and find some deals over next month or so.

I like to keep an eye on the discount sites like Sierra Trading Post and pick up merino wool base layers when they get listed.

I like the merino wool, especially with the full zipper pants (I have KUIU), but that Under Armour Infrared is hard to beat.

Very happy with my First Lite merino wool. They usually have a decent sale around Christmas. Also have a lighter weight Kuiu set that are very high quality.

Hard to beat the GI base layers on a quality/cost basis. Either the silks or the waffles, depending on how cold. My youngest wears the waffle top as a sweater.

My first-lite top and bottom is the best I’ve ever owned and I’ve tried quite a few brands
Never tried UA stuff, but it gets good reviews. Different fabric though.

I have Sitka and First Lite and I'd go with First Lite hands down when it comes to Baselayers

I love my merino base layers. Mine are the Minus33 brand from Amazon.
I came across this site also and I will probably try it out when I am ready for some more. - MOUNTAIN WAREHOUSE

First Lite merino wool.
Slowly but surely converting all my stuff to FL. Can't believe I wore cotton as long as I did. Gamechanger.

Smart wool is my favorite.

Smart wool
I just picked up a Smartwool 250 Merino wool base layer 1/4 zip top, and bottom. Expensive but with Merino wool, I can wear these for a few days thus reducing my base weight. Doing some cold weather hiking in a couple of months. Can't wait to try them out.
ETA: I've read all over that although they are great for base layer tops and bottoms, for socks go with Darn Tough... FWIW.
