Good on them. They found fulfillment and satisfaction on the path they chose. I have too. I just took a different route.
I agree with you. To each their own. My question is why is it always the people who don't have something starting threads about why it's so great? Sounds like they are missing something in life and don't exactly realize it. Parents, myself included, aren't starting threads claiming they're trying to save lives by encouraging others to have kids.
It's almost funny how op and many others like him in similar threads manage to come across as someone the rest of us think should definitely not have kids.
Point is, if life is so great, why are these people starting threads to tell others how great their situation is for them.

You sound incredibly selfish and insecure.
I bet you hardly ever get laid as well.

spot on, I haven't started reading the thread yet but my god people with kids get offended when you don't want any of your own

I'm not a parent, yet it's all the same. It is very selfish.

-I have a very bleak outlook for the future of the country and the world within the next 50-100 years.
-The cost of childcare is ridiculous. My wife and I both earn good money but the fact that good childcare cost more than a mortgage is fricking retarded.
-Population growth is off the charts. Some of us are going to have to bite the bullet and not have kids or NASA is going to have to find Earth2 and a quick transportation system soon.
Honestly I really like kids. I love my nieces, nephews, and godchildren but I don’t want them for myself. My wife and I have talked about adoption, perhaps, if we ever decide that we really want to have kids around, but we’re not having children of our own.

not sure why you think this type of thread is common.
I don't see a huge difference in the number of threads about the advantages of having/not having kids.
I see a lot of references about child-related activities- travel ball, dance lessons, school shite. But one should expect as much given ours is a society that traditionally is centered on families with children.

No it's not, as countries have become more and more developed, population growth has slowed.

Which is why we need as many smart and upstanding citizens as I assume you are to have children. As it is, the do-nothings of this society of ours are going to win because they're going to out pace us in terms of population.

most people don't care if you don't want kids
people with kids get offended when you make up things about how terrible their lives are with kids
it would be the same as me making up things about how terrible your life is without kids

you can say whatever you want and I won't be offended because I know how awesome it is not having my sleep, travel,or weekend schedule affected by kids. Good for you if you'd rather spend your weekends at travel ball and birthday parties....I'd rather spend mine fishing and traveling to Saints/LSU games, to each his own

baws with beer guts who work on oil rigs dont have legacies either dude.
children are not a legacy, its your ideas and knowledge that are passed down that society will consider valuable. for example, no one cares about shakespeares crotch spawn its his works and mind that are shared around the world.

Yeah people who have to act like their life with/without kids is just so much better than anyone can imagine are insufferable.
"Yeah the kid shite the bed last night, but I looked in his eyes and saw my purpose in life. You just can't understand that!"
Or
"frick kids, man. I just got a new boat, let's take it out. Oh you have kids? Ha you can't have fun ever."
Both extremes are annoying. Like you said, it seems to stem from insecurity.

Did you not read my post? I'm talking about the extremes on both sides. Kids and kidless.
People who exaggerate the negative sides of someone else's life while exaggerating the positives of their lives are insecure as frick.
