The post on here about what I did after the win against Auburn this year. My phone was texting , I'll just say that. But, it brought me back to a story my dad told me about the year LSU beat Auburn in 1970. His boss was a Auburn Alum and my father was a 1958 LSU Alum. Well needless to say that was the year they had the great Pat Sullivan and Beasley. You can imagine how his boss said how Auburn was going to beat the hell out of LSU at home in what they called CLIFF HARE STADIUM at the time. Afternoon game little rain both teams were coming in on a high note. LSU defense was pretty good Offense not so much. But we all know the results. The great Sullivan and Beasley at home could only score 9 points. NO TD. Just 3 field goals. Great win for LSU. Now this is your typical Auburn fan response. My father went into work the next day. Made the decision not to say a word, right. Well the Aubie Boss was bitchin and moaning about how the weather was the reason LSU won, misty rain caused problems etc. So my father (not holding back any more) said this and I'll never forget it.
Quote " Well John I do believe it was raining on LSU to and we managed 2 TD's and a FG on your home field". John was speechless and left the room. To hell with Auburn.

That game was drama-packed from beginning to end. Tigers led by QB Buddy Lee (now there's a household name for a Tiger QB) scored on a 4th-and-goal pass early, following an Auburn fumble, to take a 7-0 lead. The Tigers led throughout, adding a TD and an improvised 2 pt. conversion in the third. Still, the game was in doubt til the bitter end when LSU turned in one its greatest goal line stands in history to preserve the 17-9 upset.

Grandpa! Mom was looking for you today! Call the house and get off the library's computer. We are having hot hamburg sandwiches for dinner.

Man, that was an exciting game. Three a bomb on the first play from scrimmage for a td.

You're thinking about the 1969 game in Tiger Stadium.
