You make very valid points, nurse. MS is like all of the forgettable fly-over states. Idaho, Ohio, Nebraska, etc. No one takes a vacation to MS. Well, maybe people go to the casinos.

Easy to find weirdos in FL it’s the 3rd most populous state.

But if you find the right spot in FL there is no where better to live.

SW FL is beautiful. Wealthy, the beach is 5 minutes away from my house, awesome kayaking, very low crime. Food sucks, but I made friends with the chef at work, who regularly makes etouffee, gumbo, jambalaya, etc.

Anyone paying 600k to actually live in Mississippi is an idiot.

Low taxes, lots of conservatives that do the right thing, great hunting (tons of people from LA actually hunt and fish in MS) and very low unemployment if you take out the Delta. I am sure MS is glad people like you think this way, so they don’t have to deal with influx of people. Meanwhile, we have massive corruption in our two largest cities and with all of the resources barely outrank them in anything. Not to mention they can go to any place in Louisiana (NOLA, Tiger Stadium, Grand Isle, etc.) easily and still live way cheaper than staying in many parts of LA.

Yeah, I can see your point? Oh wait.

My home state of Louisiana thanks to the many many years of dirty, lying, “good ol’ boy” democrats from many years ago. We’re still paying for their lies and bullshite to this day. With the natural resources we have here there’s absolutely no reason we couldn’t be a smaller version of Texas!

I don't give a shite about where CA ranks in whatever US News & World Report listing you throw up there.

I give a shite about whether or not I can stroll down State St. in 75 degree weather in March, July, or November and see girls in halter tops and booty shorts.

Where's those rankings at?

FL says hello, more conservative from a political standpoint. Oh, no state income tax. Try again.

You are 100% correct about Mississippi. It’s not as bad as people think.

Btw, Hunting in Louisiana is vastly overrated especially now. There’s NO ducks and deer is trash here. It’s over hunted too IMO.

Idaho? Really? One of the most beautiful states in the US? So much ignorance in this thread.

There is much ignorance in this thread but I believe it’s more about the government and economy than natural beauty. If we’re talking natural beauty, then West Virginia would be top 5. Louisiana isn’t bad either from a scenic standpoint. It has its moments.

Idaho is THE hot spot right now. I believe it has the largest population growth of any state.

Mostly true.

Minor exceptions to this-to wit:

The eastern panhandle of WVA is becoming gentrified into the DC/Baltimore metroplex.

Harper’s Ferry, Charles Town, (NOT to be confused with the anus-y Capitol city of Charleston), Hampshire & Mineral Counties.

There’s the Greenbrier in the southern part of the state.

And that’s it.

In the interest of being fair, there are admittedly many shitholey portions of Mississippi that only Haitians could envy.

And unfortunately the trend is for more in the future.

The rule of thumb for most of Mississippi is being way off the original Interstate Highway system was the economic death sentence for communities. The most notable exception to this was Tupelo.

West Virginia is a gorgeous state. Coal dying off really hurt them.

If you love homeless people, streets covered in fecal matter, and dirty needles, California is about as good as you can get.
