Yeah it’s all on the personnel and nothing to do with scheme and creativity. We have had plenty of problems on offense before with plenty of talent.

IF (and a big IF) Wire or Rosenthal can be an effective starter, this offense has a chance to improved. The other part of this is when things get rough, will SE seemingly go full protection again? Of will he develop some “hot routes”, or outlet options for the offense.
Cade York does not necessarily have to be the man. ONE of the kickers Ned’s to be the man. I know i am splitting hairs here.
Shelving being in shape will be a huge step for this defense.
If Emery can learn pass protect, and being a release valve for Burrow, this is best for the offense. He is the biggest talent. Don’t sleep on Curry. I have high hopes for him being in the mix next year.

Yeah, it’s not talent when your top RB was fourth team his whole career, a 2-star extremely lightly recruited WR is your top target, your OL is essentially 4-5 guards, and your QB has just arrived. It’s all “scheme”

Aranda always has good defenses regardless of personnel. So that side of the ball isnt the issue. You pointed out the main issue, but it has to be emphasized.
The oline, which we dont appear to be improving this offseason has to be worlds better. I highly doubt it will be

quote:I don't think this is a good excuse for Steve. It makes it seem like he knew he didn't have the personnel to run a pro-style offense, yet did it anyway. That would be the exact opposite of what SE and Coach O said, which was they would mold the offense around the players on the roster.
Steve E was playing Poker with half a deck this season. You can’t run spread/pro style offense when you have to keep 7-8 in to block 4.

I didn’t say it was all scheme. I’m saying offense for LSU has been offensive for years with plenty of talent.

This guy gets it and understand how scheme's suppose to work. Not like the ones on here that just want to continue to bash SE without looking at the complete picture! It all starts with the OL and if you are so blind that you can't understand this concept then well there isn't much that can be said.

Stopped reading right here! You mean that same 4th string RB that ran for 1000 yards and had like 15 TDs?

He had a solid season but 4.3 per carry is a long way down from what LSU has had for many years.
Guice:
8.5 per carry in 2015
7.6 per carry in 2016
5.3 in Canada’s 2017 offense
Williams:
2014: 4.7
2015: 4.9
2016: 4.5
2017: 5.7
fournette:
2014: 5.5
2015: 6.5
2016: 6.5
Hill:
2012: 5.3
2013: 6.9

Playcalling has to get better. Need more innovation on the offensive side of the ball
Doesn’t matter what play is called if:
1. Your o-line can’t execute the blocks
2. Your QB can’t audible out of that play due to other players not fully understanding scheme

Yes you can. Its literally what every other team in cfb does.
Our scheme didnt just struggle against good defenses.
Southeastern shut us down in the 2nd half. Are your saying we dint have the oline to block southeastern and la tech?
How come we were able to block UGA?
If your oline is struggling you dont go max protect. You spread people out and call plays that get the ball out of your qbs hands.
Our oc outs the qb under center and calls playaction.
Our oc gets in max protect limiting the aread the defense has to cover and brings more defenders to the los.
Our scheme is the major issue.
Calling deep routes with a struggling line.

Brossette had 1000 years this season and Fournette had a little over 1000 as a freshman.

Ask then why was Southeastern able to shut us down? Ask them why every Southland conference team they played out gained lsu and had more 1st downs.
When Southeastern holds us to 63 yards and 3 1st downs in a half, the problem is scheme.

These are choices.
Lf and CEH were better backs than NB.
And we have highly rated wrs.
Blame our oc running option routes keeping more talented wrs off the field.
Lsu is the only team that plays olayers for the scheme rather developing a scheme around the players.

Do you know how rare it is for true freshman to play well on the oline in the sec? Do you follow the sport?
And youre suggesting our oline gets better with a year. Brumfield didnt under this staff.
Its amazing watching you refuse to hold the staff accountable for the lack of offensive production.

Win the games we lost, that we should have won.
Florida and A$M last year, for example
Should have won both.

Dozens of programs with less talent than lsu have competent offenses.

Yes he can with a veteran qb and Oline but he needs that dominant RB. We need the two freshman to step up

Do you realize that the transitive property is virtually meaningless in CFB? If you believe in the transitive property of football, The Citadel is one of football’s best teams.
ETA: Are you going to use transitive property to claim Syracuse and Georgia Tech have a better offense than Bama?
