First off, James Gill, go frick yourself.

LINK
Article Headline:
James Gill: If 'electronic device' is being withheld in fatal shooting involving LSU players, what else is?

quote:

you have to wonder whether a couple of Alabama players, or even some regular Joes from that neck of the woods, would have been so speedily exonerated. There is no denying that Tigers are privileged citizens in this football-mad city, where many bigwigs, including Moore, are LSU graduates.

quote:

Moore agrees with BRPD that running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire and reserve linebacker Jared Small were apparently well within the law when one of them — nobody is saying which — pumped several bullets into Johnson.

quote:

the players had arranged to sell Johnson an “electronic item.” Authorities refuse to say what the item was, although why they should be so coy is unknown. It merely makes us wonder what other information is being withheld.

quote:

The law that says you can kill an armed aggressor with impunity does not apply if you possess or are acquiring illegal drugs, but there has been no suggestion that was the case here. Electronic devices of any description make no nevermind, and the players were regarded as so blameless that they were cleared to play in the Fiesta Bowl a few days later and Edwards-Helaire returned the opening kickoff 77 yards.

This frick is a miserable hack of a journalist, I’m sure the NYT or Huffington Post would love some opinionated bullshite like this.

This guy insinuating that they were trying to buy or sell drugs, or shot him for no reason, and that they received favorable treat from law enforcement.. they’re withholding the “electronic device” bc it was a bowl gift and he’s not supposed to be selling it. He was a legal concealed carry holder and was well within his rights to defend himself.

Had the DA decided to press charges, he would probably have made it a black/white issue

I don't think this is true. I think players are free to sell bowl gifts for fair market value. I only think it would be a possible violation if he autographed it and sold it for 2-3x its value.

I do agree that they are using the term "electronic device" to avoid the issue altogether, though.

Does this moron even realize that nobody would have even heard about this story if it was some regular Joe?

Yeah all the people involved in the case know, there’s no need for a two-bit hack to know but to only make off based accusations that the players are somehow in wrong in this situation. Journalism has just turned into a damn opinion column, and a shitty one at that.

The fact that he assumed they were selling/buying drugs is a blatant character attack and he should be reprimanded.

Clyde is a good kid from a good family.

Substituting negative conjecture into the story where he himself has lack of knowledge...

... that equals a story with an agenda, aka hit piece.

Journalism now is any hack who has a laptop. The advocate should be ashamed for publishing that

The most insulting part is that Hillar Moore has bent over backwards to be impartial for years, often at the expense of LSU football. He took like 8 years to decide if he was going to indict Jalen Mills just for watching his side piece and baby momma fight.

Well, to be fair, he is a columnist, not a journalist, and his articles are found in the Opinion section.

FYI, James Gill is British by birth and is staunchly anti-gun.

Also this:

quote:

In April 2009, Gill championed of the use of unstaffed cameras to photograph and ticket motorists who ignore red lights

and this:

quote:

the first to analyze racial segregation in the krewes, which produce the annual parades.

So this guy just sucks all around

not clicking the article but the quote about this town being lenient towards football players is bullllshit. if anything he was given the "expedited treatment" for being the son of a police officer who probably taught him how to defend himself\good shooting circumstances. in this world we live in now your trouble doesnt end when the shooting stops, rather its just begun.

To be slanderous and attack the players character is where it crosses the line
