I member.

They now admit that both supervisors were asleep on the job.

quote:

Two Sewerage & Water Board supervisors fell asleep on the job amid a drop in water pressure that led to a precautionary boil advisory on the east bank of New Orleans in mid-November, the utility’s executive director, Ghassan Korban, disclosed Thursday (Jan. 10).

The two employees, who had overnight shifts, no longer work for the utility, he said. The two supervisors were tasked with the same function at the utility’s Carrollton water-pumping plant on the morning of Nov. 17, 2018, when they fell asleep, Korban said. The Sewerage & Water Board’s power and water-pumping equipment was already in a fragile state at the time, made vulnerable by an Entergy line being knocked down by a vehicle and water pumps tripping out during power transfers to overcome the loss of the downed line.

“They were asleep,” Korban said in a meeting Thursday with NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune’s editorial board.

I figured this was pretty much a given. Didn't the pressure drop and they had zero response to fix it in the necessary window?

Firing them seems a bit extreme. Couldn't they just hire an additional person to check in on them periodically?

It’s a city job, shouldn’t you hire a sitter for each?

If they were smart they would have coordinated their sleep schedules so something like this wouldn’t happen. But then, no one ever accused S&WB employees of being smart.

I attended their pension board meetings periodically for a few years. They were pretty interesting. There was one member of their pension committee who showed up to a meeting wearing a purple pin striped suit, with a shirt and tie made from the same material. I think he might have had a hat made out of it too. It was a scene man.

This is about to get good.

FOX 8 just reported an interview with Latoya Cantrell being very defensive and almost went ghetto on the news gal asking the questions.

She straight up lied and said it was public knowledge and all the city council members knew since November the employees where sleeping.

The city council members said today was the first day they’ve heard about it.

Watch the story at 10 or catch it on the Fox 8 website, she’s gonna get some shite for acting like that.

That’s her true, racist, ghetto colors starting to show.

Embarrassing but oh so predictable. They are one of the sources of dysfunction .
