One way to cut the deficit - just keep shutting stuff down and people will start to see just how pointless the government is over time.

All with the pitch that the money saved will go to the wall.

The poliboard is the perfect example for everyone is not created equal and the right to vote really needs to be reconsidered

What exactly is your issue with the OP? Where do you disagree and why?

Nice attack though just curious as to why.

If Trump were really anti-establishment he'd shut it down permanently.

I'm not holding my breath.

I have said for a looong time that we should cut the federal government by at least 25% across the board... as a start.

This shite is proving that it's possible.

15% of the govt shut down on a short term basis doesn't quite prove that

But I think it does show that there is some fat to be cut. If 15% cut short term has no meaningful effect then it stands to reason that a smaller number like say 5% could easily be cut permanently with no negative consequences IMO

Just let it stay closed an see how many non essential personnel enter the private sector.

Then don’t refill most of those positions and restructure.

At some point the cost savings will be enough

First because if we had a real shutdown; meaning truly a us government that was not functioning as happened in Argentina for example, society would start to break down pretty quickly. We'd have anarchy. It's stupid to think our society would continue unaffected if we don't have a functioning government Google Argentina in 2001 and watch that documentary. The government stopped functioning; super markets were looted, neighborhoods formed self defense groups and began to grow communal gardens. Electricity was sporadic. Venezuela is another good example. Spare me the 'i don't see any impact'. That's because it's still there. No government means no food inspections,no electricity grid, no disease control, no treasury means default and stock home market collapse, etc etc.

But it will never happen, because Trump probably realizes via polling that if shite really does hit the fan, he will be blamed. Hell he went on the bragging he would be proud
That's most likely why they are looking for ways to keep irs, airport security etc going.

The whole thing is stupid and childish. We're an embarrassment to the adult world. Trump has completely lost the power of persuasion by his insults and doesn't realize his I command you obey thing doesn't work in our form if govt. So here we are.
