There are also recreational fisherman catching bluefin right alongside the commercial boats. People catch bluefin in areas where bluefin migrate. They may be rare in Louisiana waters, but they aren’t rare.

They aren’t that rare in The Gulf of Mexico but they have been heavily regulated for a long time due to the gulf being a spawning site for bluefin.
