re: Married At First Sight: Season 8 Thread

finished up E4 when I got home yesterday. I was pretty disappointed when I went to watch E5 and realized it hasn't aired yet :( At least now I can post in here and be current and not worry about being behind.

I really hate luke, there's something off about him. Still just as cringey as I've written about before. In the outro of the last ep/preview for hte next ep we hear a soundbyte of kate saying something like "he finally kissed me and said it repulsed him and made him feel dead inside". Good heavens, I just want to scoop her up and give her a great big hug. If that is really what happened, I can dismiss one of my 3 theories of him just being uncomfortable around girls. Whcih leaves 2 possible theories for luke, and yes there needs to be a theory because something is CLEARLY wrong here, this is not normal behavior, there must be an explanation.

1 is he's gay, which I still dont' really buy because I doubt he'd do the show if that was the case. Also while I'm rambling does no one else think he looks like tebow with a beard? Am I alone in that? Option 2 is one I mentioned a ways back but I think may have some teeth, in that there was A LOT more to their knowing each other beforehand that we don't know about. It's clear that they have ZERO chemistry, no vibe at all, in fact it looks like he actually dislikes her. Doesn't give her the time of day, constantly making little jabs/putdowns, not kissing his wife for 4 fricking days, etc. I now believe that there is a backstory, which I have 2 more subtheories on:

1) She did something to really turn him off in their IRL encounter and emails. Didn't he say something about some kind of email exhcnage? I think he had his eye on her IRL at the speed dating thing, and she either did or said or acted some way that just turned him off in an extreme manner. Don't know what it was. Then when he saw she was his bride it basically killed any remote chance whatsoever and he's now just oging through the motions bc he has to. I also can't recall about the emails, didn't he say they had emailed each other like the day before the show? IIRC I think he mentioned something about attending one of his dating events and she was like "I can't I'm getting married" or something? Maybe he is count of monte cristo-level bitter about her "rejecting" him and he's getting back at her? idk

2) Maybe she has dated someone he knows IRL and it ended poorly. Trying to put myself into a similar situation here...let's take a real life buddy of mine and think about a relationship of his that ended very poorly with an ex. Now imagine I'm at the alter and I see that ex is now by bride (although she does not know or recognize who I am). In that situaiton I would understandably not let myself get too close to her, probably wouldn't feel ANY kind of spark, and probably would refrain from being physical as much as I could. In this case though, I think it woudl be one of the first things I'd mention if I was luke. Sure it would kill the entire marriage from the jump, but at least there wouldn't be any false pretenses.
