Family vacation ideas/advice

A few years ago our family started taking vacations every year from 12/26-1/3. We are needing some advice/ideas on next location.
Family includes grandparents, kids and grandkids - so wide range of age. Not counting grandparents we range from ages 45 year old to 6 year old being youngest. Older kids ranging from 22 years old to 14. There are 15-16 of us total.
Places already visited: Nashville. Disney World. Gatlinburg.
We would prefer to drive rather than fly.
We need to have a house big enough for us to all stay together being we spend quite a bit of time just hanging out at the cabin/house playing games and drinking.
Was thinking about somewhere we could ski but I hear prices are crazy high around that time of year. We have very little experience skiing so any input on skiing is welcome.
Location traveling from is Baton Rouge area.
Any advice would be appreciated.

well gatlinburg is the perfect place for that trip but you know that already.
maybe a place on the gulf beach? Most of the activity type stuff should be open and there’s plenty to do or not do
Plus there’s houses big enough for that size group
A cabin in Arkansas might also be fun depending on where you go

How far of a drive you talking about? If all you want is a cabin that’s fairly easy, plenty
Of places in Arkansas and what not. Not sure how many ‘destination’ type of places there are outside of skiiing that time of year. Yeah that’s the busiest week of the year for skiiing.

If I was one of the older kids I would find that kind of vacation absolutely miserable

All the places I mentioned we drove to so around that. Little more if needed.
The older kids love the vacation. We do go out and do things throughout the week. Sometimes split up with younger kids and teens. Or use the grandparents and teens as babysitters for us adults to go out a few nights.
Worried about being in Arkansas and not having anything else to do. We do enjoy being around the big cities...sometimes hiring a tour guide and bus to drive us around for a day or two to see few things so we don’t have to load up 3-4 vehicles.

You said big house/ cabin now are saying this? I don’t really understand? If you want a big house how easy is it to find that in a ‘big city’?
Driving distance is tough. I’d say Branson may be your best bet. You could go somewhere in Arkansas with a decent sized city close by. Skiing within driving distance is out I’d say? I don’t think there’s anywhere with a decent snow chance that’s within driving distance.
Charleston, Savanna, Miami, Chicago, Memphis, Austin. Come to mind.

Wife and I took the kids (ages 5 & 3) to Mammoth Cave National Park this past fall. Camped out one night on the way to break up the drive. We just didn’t want to do the beach again. There’s some great Air BnB’s in the Bowling Green, KY area. We were nervous about how the kids would do in the caves but they had an absolute blast. The fall colors were incredible too.

Yeah I honestly feel like people look way too hard for a hot hip spot and not enough on something they enjoy as a family that’s more convenient.
I personally can rent a great waterfront property and enjoy the water/fishing for weeks.
There are amazing cabins all over and they don’t have to be in well known areas. If you save money on lodging by going to lesser Visited areas and travel you can splurge on other activities, like a guide, local chef, etc. Do some hiking a couple days, have a fire pit every evening, and maybe try some winter activities you normally would not.
Often times in my opinion the most important part of a vacation is the enthusiasm of the parents. If the parents can imagine it being a good time and putting in effort to try, then it usually is.
