Yes, what he did was stupid considering the evil country in which he was visiting, but it doesn’t justify what happened. Putting torture in quotations is ridiculous . It was straight up torture. frick NK and all communists.
He was well aware of the consequences before he acted, his parents need to be doing some soul searching on why he felt he could do this and not be punished instead of blaming others.
Regardless of what we feel should have happened it is their country and their rules, dont like it, dont go.
