Searched and didn't really see a thread on Cayman.
We're staying on 7 Mile Beach the end of February. What are some restaurant and bar recommendations?
We'll be doing some diving and golf while on our trip already, but recommendations for other fun/cool activities on the island are welcome as well.
TIA

take the route 9 bus to spotts beach and swim with the sea turtles. kind of a low key beach with picnic tables and a porta potty. the buses run fairly regularly for $3/cayman.
"driver(# people) stop please" at the grocery along the way for beers and some snacks. the current is kind of strong, so i would recommend flippers.
me and this turtle and a very relaxing morning floating in the current and eating sea grass together:

where the cruise ships dock, there is a public swimming hole next to Paradise restaurant (place has a bright green roof). free to jump in, but it doesnt really have a beach, just a concrete slab with a ladder into the water.
it had the best array of fish species around the island imo. some big tarpon and other colorful smaller varieties. but the water can taste a little like boat fuel.

Look up Rackams waterfront bar & grill. Here is the link to website Rackams. We really liked it.

I've done the sting ray city jet ski tour with grandcaymanexcursions dot com twice and loved it. They pick you up in front of a gift shop near the terminal, shuttle you to the holiday inn and you ride jet skis out to sting ray city. You have your own group (maybe a max of 10 people instead of the big groups with 20-30 people) and the tour guide will let you hold the rays and feed them etc. Then you have the option of going to rum point beach or snorkeling. Have had a great time with them!
Also get you some rum cake... Freakin' delicious

Had a few good times at Fidel Murphy's Irish Pub.
Fidel Murphy's Link
It's in little strip mall on West Bay Road about a half a mile north of George Town.

We passed on Grand Cayman this year for Curacao but we did our research anyway. Sting Ray City, the Cayman Turtle Center and the Queen Elizabeth eth Botanical Garden all made the list of stuff to not miss. There are also the ruins of Fort George and the flip flop tree off the beaten path to check out. Lots of good opportunities to snorkel, including Starfish Point, Spotts Beach, Cheeseburger Reef and Connolly's Cove. They also have a bioluminescent bay that looks easy to access.

For those that have been to Cayman, is it better to take a good amount of cash and exchange there, or just use a card (sapphire) for pretty much everything and carry just a little bit of cash?
Looks like the exchange rate is 1 USD = 0.83 CID right now.
We've already booked our condo, fishing trip day, and stingray city/cruising boat day with cards. So really all we'll be spending on there is food, booze, and random small things like distillery tour, snorkel stuff, merchandise, massage, etc.
We leave on Wednesday. TIA!

Every place we went took American dollars, but gave change in Cayman currency, so we never exchanged any cash. Just watch out for them short changing you. We never had it happen, but were told to keep an eye out for it. Most places also take a credit card, so whichever you're comfortable with. You'll need cash to tip fishing guide and sting ray city guides, assuming you booked a charter for both, but they also gladly take American dollars.
If you weren't already prepared, everything there is expensive. More expensive than other Caribbean islands I've been to.

One, when I went the exchange rate was around $1US to $.75 Cayman, so we were already behind the 8 ball.
12 packs of cheap US beer(Bud, Miller, etc) were around $30 Cayman, so closer to $40 US. There is a brewery on the island and their beer was a little cheaper, but not much.
Grocery staples were all about 2-3 times what they are stateside - bacon was about $30 for a pound, box of cereal $8-$10, etc.
Restaurants were surprisingly not too bad, but we never ate anywhere real nice. 2 adults and 2 kids and our meals probably averaged around $80. One was over $100, but we hung out there longer and had a few drinks.

Damn, that's some shite. Hope my liver likes the local brew.

So I think I had that wrong. 12 packs were $20 Cayman, so closer to the $30 US. Sorry.
The White Tip Lager from the local brewery was the best one I had from them. I didn't like the Caybrew at all.
