Fortnite Audio on PS4: Headset AND TV?
Posted on 12/12/18 at 6:09 pm

Is it possible to play the audio through the headset and TV at the same time on PS4?
My whole family enjoys watching the kids play.
I know we can move the audio to chat only through headset but then the player would get muffled sounds of chests and footsteps.
If we put all sound on the headset the people watching cant hear anything.
If we just run audio through the TV then my son cant chat with his friends with the mic.
Any advice?
ETA: we have a corsair void pro usb headset

The ps4 doesn’t have this capability. The Xbox does however. If your tv has a 3.5mm jack, I suggest hooking up some external speakers to it. That’s how I have my set up for instances like this.

Thanks being a responsible parent and letting him use supervised chat functions.
I have nothing useful to contribute otherwise.

I have a Stealth 700 from Turtle Beach and it does this on PS4

So you need a $120 headset?
How does that work? I’m thinking the only way to make it work is a combination of the digital optical cord that comes with the stealth 700 headset and an original ps4. A slim doesn’t have a digital optical port.
Is the jack on the usb dongle an in or an out? If it’s an out, you can plug the other in of the cord into the tv if you have a digital optical port there.

How is the headset getting source audio?
From PS or controller?
If pulling just from PS then this is easier.
Split the output audio after processed to HDMI out but keep the input audio source as USB. Look for HDMI audio extractors and/or splitters on Amazon.
If you are having trouble finding one or need confirmation come back here.

I guess PS4 will just have to settle for being superior in every other way.

thats pretty cool. wish more parents were that open to it
dont think you can do it with normal settings on PS4 like you can on Xbox. At least, I've never figured out how.

Headset is USB into the PS4
PS4 is using HDMI to TV
My PS4 does have an Optical Audio out.
Do you think if I ran a cable directly into a sound bar or some other speaker that has an optical cable in I could make it work? Or think I need an HDMI splitter?

Yeah I'm using digital optical... It's a good set up and sounds really good...
$120 ain't shite to get a wireless headset when your dog has a habit of chewing on cables

I mean, in terms of headphone and mic it really isn't much money. Entry level.

PS4 is single source audio on both.
Reason why you need to split/repeat the audio single after output from the system.
So yes, you need one.

Yeah, I know, he was acting like it was a ton of money... What I have is a really good casual/weekend gamer set up. I won't ever need anything more honestly, but there are definitely better headsets out there

There’s a setting to make game audio go through the tv and chat through the headset. I’d have to get home to tell you exactly how to do it.
However, know that doing this is Going to make all your kids friends hate playing with him as the mic is going to pick up all of the game audio coming from the TV.
There is nothing more annoying than hearing another players game coming through their Tv.
