Sophser and the boot to Bama trend

Is Sophser the first player that most, if not all LSU fans already know is going to Bama and simply don’t care to get lured into the last minute drama?
Sure we’ve had guys commit early to Bama but most drag it along until signing day. They stir up hope by taking more LSU visits and posting pictures in LSU uniforms. Then we all know how it ends. But this one feels different. Everyone knows he’s going to Bama, yet he hasn’t committed and still nobody cares.

He better play in the NFL and be set for life, because he will never be able to come home and find viable work.

Couldn't he find viable work in Birmingham?
Or maybe he could find viable work in Louisiana at a business run by a ULL or Tulane grad?
Or what if there's an Alabama grad in Louisiana in a position to hire someone?

He could always cut hair in Amite?

I recently went out of my way to pave the way for a former Tiger football player to get access to our clients. If I get that call from a LA guy who went to Bama you can bet he’ll get a different reception. My nephew is a well-known former LSU baseball player. He’s in sales, and I assure you doors open for him. Sure, they can find that in Alabame, but that means they have to live in, yeah, Alabama.

There you go, trying to pick specks out if fly shi.. face it most businesses in the state are going to benefit from the local hero not a player who lays it on the line for Alabama.

This line of thinking is fricking stupid. A large corporation will hire him if he’s qualified. They won’t give a shite that he left La to play football in Alabama. Not everyone in La lives and breathes LSU football.

It just has the appearance of things we have all seen before. Apparently he told LSU coaches he wanted to play in college with his brother. So, LSU offers his brother a scholarship (the only school that has, as far as I know) but he still doesn't commit. LSU plays home game against UGA, biggest SEC game of the week, he goes on a visit to Ala instead. IMHO, he is all Ala, the only reason he'd consider LSU is his brother. But, if he really wanted to play in college with his brother, he'd of committed to LSU already. The writing is on the wall and most of us LSU fans see it. We've just moved on.

You would be wrong in 87% of cases.

Right. You're a die hard LSU fan. I'm sure most of us on this message board feel the same as you.
But...
There are plenty of people in the state who don't give a rat's arse about LSU football, and wouldn't think twice about hiring a kid that went to Alabama.

As bitter as we may be this just isnt true. Every kid should have the freedom to choose which school they want to attend without feeling threatened in any way. Some want to stay home and represent the boot/stay close to family and friends. Some might just want go play for the greatest college coach of all-time. Some might just want change of scenery.
Now if they were to lie to our coaches and "flip" the night before signing day and/or have a last second $ultimatum$ then the hostility like some have, I'd understand the hostility.
Sospher hasn't been leading LSU on like others have and I respect that

Seems that way. The rumored baggage has had an effect too I’m sure.
I couldn’t care less about him. Even if we land him.

Yes, I don’t think anyone is saying he can’t get a job in LA. What is being said, is that barely anyone will give a shite that he was a football player for Alabame. No path will be set up for him, no doors held open for him, no perfect opportunities will find him.
To your point, someone will hire him, the same way they hire other random people that apply for positions with a given company.
AND, let’s face it, he’s gonna need to be just as qualified as the other applicants to get that job.
Spend a few years at LSU leaving it on the field and when the time comes, doors will be open, paths trimmed and lighted for convenience and we’ll all be jealous! Lol.
shite is real and your kidding yourself if you don’t believe it.

What’s he going to be “qualified” for that makes any real money? Not trying to hate on the kid here, but these athletes are not generally known for their intelligence and he thinks powered degrees.
What won’t happen is he won’t be set up with a “sales job” at a car dealership somewhere making 6 figures to just come in and sit at a desk for most of the day.

Oh, I thought we were talking about him having an advantage in getting employment? Sure, he can absolutely get a job in LA regardless of where he plays football. I just thought we were talking about real life and if he’s not an nfl player for long or at all, he could always find the “perfect employment opportunity” that fit him here in his home state. Cuz, that is real.

Except for the guy who said he won't be able to find viable work in Louisiana? As if he's going to be totally blackballed from ever gaining employment in the state ever again.

Yeah, you’re actually correct. Someone did say that, and I was wrong for not pointing it out as well.
You two, you know, the guys on the extreme right or left of every controversy should get together, have a few beers and nit pick each other. Y’all would love it, or at least you would, maybe..

Yea I completely understand that notion. Other guy said he wont be able to find viable option.
My view:
Top in-state guy and picks LSU over Bama, their life immediately becames a gravy train.
have career-ending injury: you'll still have a ridiculous amount of opportunities regardless of qualification.
Even if they played in NFL, successful or not, they'd immediately have connections 99% of people don't have, whether it's to start a business or sell insurance, etc.
Was just saying they shouldn't feel threatened.
Regardless, picking LSU for guys like Sospher:
best free insurance policy ever.
