As a bass player I'm not allowed pedals. Or any singing.

I had to fill in on bass last week and despite having planned to use a pedal, the way the power situation was on that stage, none of our pedals (bass or guitar) were working correctly, so I had to do without. When I'm doing bass, I have a MI Blues Pro overdrive pedal that I use, since if I'm playing bass, that means there's no rhythm guitar player, so I'm trying to mask that extra guitar not being there.

Sounds pretty good that way, very similar to Crash Kings bass:

Bull. I watched a Rig Rundown with Tedeschi Trucks Band and the bass player had more pedals than Derek and Susan combined.

My favorite distortion pedal is the Fulltone Distortion Pro. It's not a one-trick pony; you can get a lot of different sounds out of it. And it makes a good noise pretty much anywhere you set the knobs.

As it should be, bass players should be heard, but not listened to.
