Will the demand be greater? $300 for 2 tickets and over $1600 for 2 RT air fares. Throw in 3 nights lodging for another $600 and you are looking at 2500 before doing anything else. It is also the holidays.
On the other hand Arizona weather should be nice at best and cool at worst plus many people have time off of work.
With neither team being close geographically, it seems like supply will exceed demand.

Guy at the ticket office said it was a mistake to me when I asked

Seemed strange to me too. Maybe it was 20k and the 0 was missing. In that case there will be plenty tickets available but you may be better off waitng if you are not sure.

I hope we have 15-20 K there. At least match what UCF has there.

first time traveling for a BCS/NY6 bowl?

No. But I've driven to NOLA, Florida, Georgia, and Texas for all the other ones that I attended.
Some people may drive the 25 hours one way, or less if you're in Texas, but that becomes a minimum 5 or 6 day trip.

Well Nola, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Tampa and Orlando are all within driving distance. The airfare is what makes this trip so bad.

Not worried Tiger nation will travel well

Just for S & Gs, I went on the ESPN website to check bowl matchups and each one has a link to tickets. According to that, there are seats available all over the stadium starting at 42 bucks.

I got $443 on Southwest from Atlanta to Phoenix.

Stadium may be half full, 3/4 would be a win for the bowl.

They're driving distance if you live in baton rouge. Tampa and Orlando are 14+ hour drives from the Northern part of the state and this doesn't even account for LSU fans living out of state. Conversely, flights are typically more expensive out of Baton Rouge. I can get a roundtrip ticket to Phoenix for about $350 from Nashville.
Tickets to the game will be cheap and plentiful, and hotels aren't unreasonable. It's a cool destination regardless and would be a fun trip. If I didn't have prior obligations, I'd go.

The rest were 12k so I'd imagine that's what it is. The CFP must mandate 12k to each school to make it consistent. All of the stadiums are approximately the same size.

I am in!
450.00 from Houston to Phoenix on Southwest.
Staying at Hampton Inn & Suites in Glendale, can walk to stadium.
I used to live in Scottsdale for 2 years and have been waiting for the day LSU is in the Fiesta Bowl.
If you go, will not disappoint, beautiful area in January!

Bought my 8 tickets on Friday in anticipation that LSU would come. What was available to the public at the time ran from the 20 around the end zone to the other 20 and there were not many seats available. I expect a full house...63,000 + is a far cry from the 102,000 + of Tiger Stadium, nut it will be full and loud.
