Laf-a-lot by a country mile. I'd rather live amongst the cajuns than the rednecks.

1. Mandeville
2. Lafayette
3. Prairieville
4. The LP

Lafayette and North Shore

I don’t understand the hate Denham gets.
Anywhere you go is going to have some sort of trash.
There are a ton of restaurant & shopping options in Denham, Watson & Walker.
The school system is good.
It would all depend on where I worked & the commute to get there every day.

If Denham Springs is now considered one of the 4 nicest places to live down there, I'm glad I got the hell out

I’ve always said Lafayette and the north shore are the only places in Louisiana I’d live.
I’ve never been off interstate in denham and I don’t even know where Prairieville is located

Obviously Baton Rouge and Nola are towards the bottom. Think these 4 are the nicest parts of Louisiana. Which would you prefer and why?
What am I doing for employment in this hypothetical scenario? Where is my job?

I know someone who live 5 years or more in all four places. They say Mandeville, with P'ville a close second. Denham is a joke and Lafayette can't keep up with its growth properly in terms of streets, drainage, etc. Half of Lafayette is a flood zone now and they won't acknowledge it or fix the drainage.

Half of youngsville is a flood zone, not Lafayette
Not sure why someone would live out there anyway

Denham is way better than it was 15 years ago. I'll give them credit for that.

Prairieville and Denham do not belong with Mandeville & Lafayette. That’s like putting Notre Dame & Ohio State with Clemson and Alabama. Just doesn’t work.

All of your options are still located in Louisiana...sooo it doesn't really matter. It's like asking where would you like to lick that 400 lb guy in 100 degree weather? The armpit, the foot, the butt crack or the taint?

Denham Springs isn’t bad. But I would take Mandeville.

Denham/LP is a miserable place & growth there is solely due to white flight. People seem to forget that in 20-30 years, all that cheap tract housing will fill up with the same element that caused them to leave BR in the first place. Everyone will then simply follow developers to yet another former backwater. There is nothing in LP to anchor property value--Bass Pro & cheap chain restaurants won't cut it. Prairieville is better, but still just a "place" on the side of the interstate. Flooding will continue to be an issue in both LP & Ascension in the future.
If you have money, then I'd say the nicer, more established neighborhoods of BR proper (Garden District, Lakes, Southdowns, Highland, etc.) & NOLA (Uptown, Lakeview, + Old Metairie) are the best places to live in La. Otherwise, I'd rank it as:
1. Northshore
2. Lafayette
3. Thibodaux (very underrated, but would only pick if you can afford private schools)
4. The rest of Metairie (ran out of opts in La )

If those are your choices, Lafayette is the best IMO.
I would prefer to live Uptown New Orleans again though.
