Apparently the students cannot be trusted to carry pucks to defend themselves with..... can the teachers at least carry them concealed to surprise the shooter?

I see the wisdom in this plan. The professor throwing the hockey puck could piss off the shooter enough that he uses up a lot of ammunition killing the professor repeatedly, thus giving the students a chance to escape.
