Louisiana Football = interesting if LSU had an In State Annual foe. Change my mind

There are 41 states that have at least 1 program that could be loosely labeled as significant(very loosely). Of those, Louisiana is 1 of 14 that do not play a routine in state game.
There are 11 states with at least 1 Power 5 time that do not play another in state team. Louisiana is one of those.
And, before I hear the population argument, 7 of the states where in state schools play each other have smaller populations than Louisiana.
I've always found it odd how we LSU fans absolutely abhor the idea of doing it and think it would be so harmful. Nothing across the national landscape really exists to support that notion.
ETA: A REGULAR in state game that is

Didn't we agree to play any in state team that wanted to play us?

We should play the University of Louisiana at Lafayette every season for the rights to being called "Louisiana".

I'm sure the University of Lafayette would love to be that rival. There's certainly enough hatred at that school toward LSU.

Ok so give us a suggestion who that should be

I think the problem with this that that there are no other P5 schools in Louisiana. This has a lot to do with it. Tulane fricked up by leaving the SEC; had they not, you bet your arse they'd be our rivalry weekend game and it would be consequential.

Would suppose a N La versus S la would give it flavor..
So La Tech ..
BUT!! I am against this
We are LSU .. and we like being LSU ..
If this was the case, with the state dynamics being somewhat similiar to Miss...
I think we would have two schools with stadiums of 50-60,000 and not 100,000 ...
We'd be happy to be in the top 25, not top 10 ..
Let's let State and Ole Miss continue to divide those resources..
I rather hate on Texas yearly than another La team

We are a small, poor state. If LSU had a significant instate rival that we had to split recruits and donors with, we would be a perennial lower half SEC team. Our structural advantage gives us the resources to be a national power.
