The OC at Alabama has a head coaching record of 3-31. Looks like an All Star coach surrounded with a great QB and talent. Slinger would be undefeated at Bama as well. Pretty much anybody would. It all starts with the OL.

I agree to an extent. People just don’t realize the talent gap between Bama and the rest of college football.

Talent > everything else. Combine talent with accountability, a strong culture and a sound schematic operation and wonderful things can happen

Would you say the talent gap between LSU and Bama is wider than A&M and Bama? How about Tennessee? Or ULL for that matter?

LSU is 11-1 with Phillips playing the entirety of every game and Chaisson providing heat off the edge

Guess Troy had much better players than LSU last year.

The talent at Bama on offense is much greater.

Aaaa NO not hardly! LSU is the only team that Bama takes 2 weeks to prep for! We are the only ones that they left the starters in the entire game. Stop comparing how LSU did verses what anyone else did. That’s just a stupid comparison! Ole Nicky knows that the west is dependent on that game every year and it’s always all hands on deck and no playing around!

Talent is not the problem at LSU. Do you honestly believe that there are 70+ teams in the country with better talent on offense than LSU?

Why did the even make the saying "Hard Work beats Talent when Talent won't work hard"

All we need is talent

You're missing the point.

Lesser teams than LSU were able to at least score in garbage time. LSU can't.
Coaching has to make up for at least SOME of the deficiencies on offense, otherwise why would we even play games? Why not just take the recruiting rankings every year and declare the team with the best class champion? After all, it's all about talent

If you're talking about beating Bama I agree we need better talent. If you're talking about beating anyone else then talent isn't the problem. Coaching is.

Honestly, part of what pisses me off most about the shite show from Saturday is that we (mostly) did what we wanted on offense, except that awful 1st and goal in 4OT.

Where the frick is that level of play calling and execution at the end of the 4th qrtr when we could have ended it? Where was that level of play calling against UF? Against Bama?

Saturday proved we can do it, our coaches just aren't calling those plays when it matters.

The talent problem is an extension of coaching. Who does the recruiting?

I don't know why we have to delineate between beating Bama and beating everyone else. It gives this shitty staff a pass.

I don't disagree with you, but O is bringing in talent in several weak spots over the next couple of years. Getting better o linemen will help out a lot. Need some more d linemen in the 2020 class though.

You serious? Bama is a different beast. I'm not saying we can't beat them, but if you're looking at it objectively they have surpassed us and the rest of the teams in recruiting year after year. The talent gap is much larger there. Especially in key spots like the lines.

No not really. I'm not giving any coach a pass. How did you come to that conclusion?

I recognize the talent gap is real, but we aren't maximizing the talent that we have. Why would we do any better with more talent? Unless Mahommes, OBJ, and Gurley want to get their masters and come back to college then no level of talent will overcome our lack of coaching.

That being said, when I say pass I don't mean you specifically you're just the thread I replied to. But what I'm getting at is focusing the conversation solely on the talent gap keeps the conversation off of the real issue at LSU. By keeping the heat off of these dickheads then we are effectively giving them a pass.

Saban would never hire him as OC.
