Yeah, that was my guess. Also, Kyrgios and Opelka (and maybe some other big servers) didn't play MC so that could be a factor as well.
ETA: The difference between the pre-bounce and post-bounce speeds and what that means exactly is above my intelligence level.

Looking at 3 dogs tonight.
I can't figure out why Kei is an underdog to Stan, and Zverev is a favorite based only on his name at this point.
That Fed/Monfils line is just absurd. Just have to decide if I want to play the +300 or maybe +4 Games. I'll probably do both.

I'm sure you could make an argument for someone who reached greater heights, but lacked the consistency. Maybe someone who made a few slam finals, or won a few Masters, or both.
I have a soft spot for Marcelo Rios. He definitely fails the longevity test miserably, but that guy was an artist with the racquet. He might be my all-time favorite player to watch.

Ferrer seems a lot like Michael Chang. A grinder who just consistently gets the ball back, but doesn’t have any rest good weapons.
Not a bad comparison. Some differences, of course. Chang is probably legitimately 5'5". He's small. But he was craaaaazy quick. If we're talking pure court coverage, Chang is right there in the conversation with Borg and Rafa.

He had a hell of a run for a 5'9 guy with very little shot-making ability. His career shows how much you can achieve with consistency, stamina, and mental strength.
I completely agree with this, to be clear. He really wasn't inordinately talented either on the athleticism side or the shotmaking side and yet damn he had a hell of a career, and made himself a shipload of money just outworking and outgrinding folks.

Here is some nerd material for you. Yellow line is Madrid. Red line is Monte Carlo.
Why didn't they do the comparison for balls with the same pre-bounce speed? That would be a bit more useful.
ETA: or is that supposed an average/composite graph?
ETA2: is it time for MV to find another 250 page physics dissertation to post?

Couldn't find anything directly on point, but a general article on tennis ball aerodynamics and then an article on the effect of altitude on the flight of baseballs.

This was probably the best-timed live bet I’ve ever made.
He was down 6-4, 3-1 then reeled off 5 games.
I’m sure he’ll lose 13-11 in a tiebreaker in true Cilic fashion.

5'9"? Lol. Did he get to stand on stairs during the measurement?
5'5" might be generous.

I hate myself.
Funk it. I"m gonna put every single penny in my 5D account on Rafa at -1600.
Please don't ask how many pennies that is. I'm a bit embarrassed.

The combination of these two lines doesn't surprise me. Fed will still look amazing -- even on dirt -- until someone makes hm grind. At which point he'll promptly morph into shankerer.
The question is how many guys can make him grind? I'm not exactly sure what the number is, but the next guy is in that subset.

Come on, Alex. Team Chopped Steak needs you. You're better than this.
