Self generated funds. Unlike all the other state schools which takes from Academics to pay for athletics.

I remember 2-3 years ago, I was complaining on the board about the fact that McNeese didn’t recruit anyone outside of Louisiana or Texas. All the while, every school in the country (even Div-II schools) would have kids from out of state on their roster.
With 247, Hudl, you name it, there’s no reason for them to find kids from Florida, Mississippi, Georgia, you name it. There’s numerous outlets where these guys could find recruits. Just be regional. Not just Louisiana and SE Texas.
Anyone want to guess the response I got whenever I brought it up?
You guesses it. “If you think the coaches could go farther, maybe you should donate and pay their gas mileage.”
My point wasn’t even to take a road trip and blindly recruit a kid. Start with an email. Gauge interest on the phone. Then you go and figure out a way to get your guys over there. Its been a couple years since that’s happened and now we have since landed 4-5 kids from Florida. A couple Northwestern kids, no less. Hopefully, whomever they hire understands that recruiting exists outside Louisiana and SE Texas. At least Guidry recruited Dallas and San Antonio also
