also, the epilogue does a terrific job at making you appreciate with arthur died for. even if it got a little to expository at times. it hurt me when john proposed to abigail. when he took arthurs ring out and you saw the photo of him and mary. that was the life he should have had. it should have been him proposing in that bay off of blackwater. setting up his own homestead at beechers hope with mary and his own son. instead he figured it out to late
anyway, this game does what is so rare for sequels, and prequels even more so. it adds legitimate weight to red dead and i feel like the next time i play it, i will view it in a complete different light and whenever anything happens, i will be thinking of arthur and how he is touching and affecting the characters and story. thats the thing, arthur has agency. he doesnt react to narrative drama, he creates it. he matters and his actions matter. when i think back to red dead, i can legitimately feel how arthur shaped the actions of john marston and his future life. hes such an amazing character. and it makes jacks decent that much more painstakingly tragic
i just restarted the game and played the first chapter. im going to leave arthur there, right outside of valentine, as i dont want a world where arthur is dead or sick

Life was hectic as hell 7 years ago and I don't even remember if I finished RDR. Just looked it up and Best Buy has it on sale today for $9.99. Going to pick up my copy and start playing it tonight. Like others have said, RDR2 was the greatest story I've ever played.

Yep. Couldn't agree more. This game did a great job of creating Arthur, but beyond that, it did a phenomenal job in the background of really developing John as well.
