This literally means nothing without context. I think the country is headed in the wrong direction cause everyone has become too soft. Other people would give other reasons. It's a stupid answer for a poll.

Not sure what this really means. Seems like they cherry picked 2 responses. The wrong direction response could be about the nasty way democrats have been acting. Could be a general statement about the divide between repubs and dems and their unwillingness to work together.
If it wasn't for Trump holding this thing together and getting things done I would definitely say the country is heading in the wrong direction politically... not economically.
So much context missing here. Of course... it's CNN so it makes perfect sense.
