Alabama proves it year end and year out. LSU has proven it in past years with having a d-line with Mingo and Montgomery on it. Clemson and Ohio State (before OS lost Nick Bosa) are/were other programs proving it this year. If LSU wants to beat a Nick Saban Alabama team and have a shot at the playoffs then it's time the coaches build up the trenches again. I went back and looked at recruiting classes from a few years that led up to some seasons that helped make LSU the staple it still is in college football. It showed me that you need to recruit the trenches and recruit them in depth. The trenches make other players better, thats the bottom line. Sophser is as important as any other player still left on the board and LSU should do whatever it takes to get him.

I have a feeling if Sopsher comes to LSU then he will not have a huge impact but he would be a star at Alabama. just our luck lately

In my opinion, that is exactly why the depth is just as important as talent. Injury and bust are always a possibility

I kinda agree with you because having just one talented player on the DL can be neutralized but surround that player with 3 or 4 on the line and now you are elite. See Clemson and alabama for proof of that. Same can be said for Oline. When is the last time LSU had a mauler on the O line or Dline??? I think l. Collins was the last mauler on the Oline . Cant remember the last guy on the Dline LSU has had as Mauler

what a difference an elite left tackle would make on the line. Charles could move to right tackle.

one elite dlineman or pass rushing end is huge as well. you've got to have an all sec caliber or all American at every level to compete for championships. that's what is missing. even without a superstar back, because the oline can make you rb's look really good.

Losing Chaisson and Ingram really hurt. A full game by Devin was needed. Queen tried hard but we needed White. Depth of quality lines is needed against the best.

Ish will be a star wherever he goes not just bama. In fact his chances of becoming a star at bama are diminished because of the crowded DL field.

At bama ish is just another guy. At LSU he becomes the man.

depth is the issue. The 4 and 5 stars on 2nd and 3rd team at bama push the hell out of the first team. Thise guys play their arse off so they don't lose their spot. LSU has only enough healthy lineman to start so there is no pressure on them. They know they are going to play. Need more depth. Also a way to get players on roids without getting caught....
