Oh for fricks sake it is a show. A fictional show. Get over yourself
Dang, cold blooded.
I turned it off 15 minutes in last night. I was so tired. I'm starting over bc I literally dont remember a single thing of those 15 minutes I was so tired.

Rollo is so pretty but I pictured a black or darker dog. I just decided today to reread Drums of Autumn.
I reallllllly hope the actress who plays Brianna is better this season. I'm just not feeling her at all. I mean, she looks nothing like Brianna should IMO but I feel like she's too....stiff? Roger doesn't look like Roger to me, but the actor makes up for it. So hopefully she will be better this time b/c she's got some much bigger scenes coming this year.

Wonder if that other guy decided a show about a woman who TRAVELS IN TIME cause of magic stones is historically accurate enough for him to watch and not be offended.

I loved the premiere, but doesn't bonnet take Frank's ring in the book?
Posted on 11/6/18 at 9:21 am to OliverQueen81
Finished it last night. I was honestly hoping she would swallow the ring and then crap it out.
If they were smart, they would have just shot Jamie in the fa r I doubt many people would have liked that though

I’m torn.
It’s been damn decent but trailers seem to indicate the show is going full blown race baiting SJW this season ... in a very political way.
I’m old family Carolina Scot and Ulster Irish dating back to the early 18th Century through Charleston. Four Corners in SC is still almost all Scottish. (Where they’re supposedly headed based upon the trailers.)
If they try to convey the storyline they appear to be following based upon trailers ... they’ll be waaaaaay off the path of historical accuracy.
The wife and I did not watch tonight. Waiting to read and hear some reviews on the boards and in her office.
We watched TWD and The Deuce tonight instead and will probably watch Ray Donovan tomorrow.
We may give up on Outlander ... would be a shame if they went off the rails.
The Carolinas are Scot country.
This post is so stupid. Your torn and you haven't even watched the episode yet. Dont watch it, you're already just looking for a reason to make it about politics and race just based off the trailers, then you're going to find a way to make it about it even if theres no hint of it.
You cant be serious about the accuracy part. Think about what you're saying. Are the magical time travel stones not in the correct location? Did it historically take longer to travel back in time and is it even possible to travel back twice? I'm torn on if that's accurate or not now too.

Yes, he wanted the gold ring b/c it was more valuable. But I guess they had to sentimental it up by having him take Jamie's ring after her big speech about it.
so are we going to get Duncan Innes or what? Or will they replace him w/ Murtagh maybe?? I'd be ok with that.
I feel like they called the guy who met Jamie at Ardsmuir and told him about the Frenchman's Gold then died Duncan Innes (or Innes).
Also, I'm torn b/c I don't know if I'm spelling Innes correctly. Maybe I shouldn't watch anymore.

Just saw this answer about the ring switch:
In the final moments of the episode, the devilish Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speleers) steals one of Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) most precious items — the ring Jamie gave to her when they were married. But that’s not what happens in Drums of Autumn, the fourth book in Gabaldon’s Outlander series on which this season is based. In the tome, Bonnet takes Frank’s gold band, not Jamie’s ring. So why tweak the story?
At the recent Savannah College of Art and Design Film Festival in Georgia, Executive Producer Ronald D. Moore told fans that the stolen ring needed to stand out for Brianna (Sophie Skelton) in a future episode — thus the change to the plot.
“Thinking ahead for those of you who know the books,” explains Moore, who screened the first episode for fans and then participated in an Oct. 28 panel in Savannah with cast members like Balfe and Sam Heughan. Moore addressed the audience directly. “Are we all friends here? Do we all know the books? The plain gold band wouldn’t be noticeable as like, ‘Oh that’s clearly my mother’s ring,’ whereas the other one clearly would. So that’s kind of why we made that change.”

I found playing Ray Charles "America the Beautiful" when Jamie was getting his arse kick and robbed disturbing and unnecessary.

Wife and I said the same thing. Totally out of place

Have they added modern music to scenes before? I couldnt remember.
I mean I see what they were trying to do, just an ironic "o yea america is real great, I come here and get attacked/robbed," but it didnt really work that well.
Posted on 11/9/18 at 7:20 am to iwyLSUiwy
No, they hadn't used modern music in the 18th century scenes before and I don't think it worked this time. I think it ruined the ethnicity of the show.

Anyone watch yesterday? Thoughts?

Well, there ya go.
Yeah ... we've seen all of Outlander that we're going through see. Even the wife is hearing from her friends at her office that are droppung, or have dropped, the show.
What a shame. They just had to frick it up.

Seriously? You are getting that upset over a fictional show?
You and your wife must be some of the most ignorant, miserable people.
But hey, at least that means we won't see your lame arse in the Outlander thread anymore so that's a plus.

I liked " do no harm". Jacosta was awesome, I thought they did the slavery issue well.

I think they cast her very well.

Agreed. We(us that have read these amazing books already) know that Claire doesn't set out to abolish slavery(so the morons that don't want to watch the show anymore can breathe a sigh of relief that the show is more "historically accurate"). But we still get to see her moral conflict with it, while being presented why her and Jaime not taking a huge stand on it is really the best course of action for that time period.
I also like how they cast Ulysses as well.

You think Rufus knew what was really in the tea? I think he did.

I think Rufus knew. I can't wait to see Brianna and Roger next episode.

Btw, I wanna be Jamie Fraser when I grow up. He is badass.
