What 45-70 do you have? If it's one of the shorter Marlins, (not the 26" Cowboy) I'd just use that.
If you just want a new gun, Ruger makes their American rifle in 6.5 Grendel. Bolt gun, 18" barrel, accepts AR mags.

Thanks for all the info. I'm mainly looking for a new rifle because I've only bought pistols and a couple shotguns the last couple years. I'm looking between the Grendel and Creedmoor
