Are they top 10 of all time?
They went 119-57 overall. Went 11-3 in the postseason beating two 100 win teams and then beat the defending two time NL champs in the WS.

Nowhere close to the 1998 Yankees.

they could've possibly stolen a game from the 2005 white sox juggernaut

I wouldn't say "nowhere close", but I would agree the 98 yankees are higher on the list. Maybe even best of all time.

125 wins including the postseason

Probably the best since 1998 Yankees. Their regular season win total was inflated though due to how bad the bottom of the league was. Teams like the A's, Yankees, Mariners, and Rays won a lot more games than they would have in a normal year.

Not that it matters but they also had the best preseason record as well.

I think it is safe to say they are the greatest ever Red Sox team.

It’s crazy how people going into the post season we’re saying shite like “they’re not build for the playoffs”
Like winning 108 games is not some indicator of a quality team.

quote:To be fair, Sale was fading toward the end of the season struggling with shoulder issues and no one was confident they could rely on Price, Porcello and Eovaldi. Also, the pen, which had been pretty solid most of the season, looked like it was fading late in the season as well. Every single question mark with the pitching staff heading into the post season turned out to be a strength.

The Mariners team with roided Brett Boone was pretty good.

NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND!
The 1912 Sox went 105-47 (.691) en route to a WS Victory over the 103-48 NY Giants.

Yep, they basically won the WS without Sale and with Betts struggling. Kelly and Eovaldi were money, which no one expected. Kelly looked like one of the best bullpen arms ever during the postseason.

Somewhere behind the 2017 Astros but ahead of the 2012 Astros.

Among all-time world series champions
Ranked third in OPS Plus (behind 1927 and 1998 Yankees), third in ERA Plus (behind 1909 Pirates and 1927 Yankees) and third in run differential ('98 Yankees, '75 Reds), so based on that alone, I would say they rank pretty highly, especially in light of their 119 wins and 11-3 postseason record.
Definitely an historically good team in the framework of a single season.
These numbers are snatched from a Jayson Stark piece today in The Athletic

So probably top 10 for sure and maybe top 5. Hard to argue with the '27 and '98 Yanks for the top two spots, after that it is just personal preference for the next three in the top 5. What an historic season.
'Nuff Ced McGreevy would have been proud of this team.

Difficult to rank the 2018 Sox considering they went up against the biggest retard manager in recent years.
Dodgers made every wrong move possible and Sox caught every break possible. Regardless, Dodgers were never going to win - Sox are a better team, pitching and they don't have a retard manager.
Where do you rank them all time? Holy shite, dude. Lets go back and analyze 150 years.
I'd say off the top of my head - because I just watched Ken Burns Baseball doc in a two-day binge...
#54?
That sound about right.
The 54th best baseball team of all-time.
Just behind the 1986 Mets but just ahead of the 1907 Cubs.
So there ya go. There's the definitive ranking (thanks Ken.)

Not many teams win 100 games in the regular season IIRC and to conclude the season the way they did smoking the defending NL champs in 5 and winning the chip on the road, mad respect could make an argument they deserve just consideration for all-time top 5 status

I'm not one of those hardcore baseball aficionados out there thats gonna try to pull the 1991 Washington Redskins argument on y'all but I always thought the 1927 Yankees Murderers Row team was baseball's gold standard apparently thats the widely-held consensus concerning all-time great baseball teams as well
