Terrebonne parish has been building scaled down versions of the Morganza levees as well as putting in flood gates for the last few years. That is the reason Terrebonne parish has one of the highest sales tax in the nation at 10.5% they didn’t feel we could wait for the feds so began working on it on our own.

this...they have been working on that floodgate by Flagoust Canal Marina for at least a year...and all the dredging they've been doing in Lost Lake and Sister Lake is fricking up all my fishing

Until they gate off the intracoastal east and west of houma they are trapping the water behind those gates and forcing it to seek new ways around. The levees help some areas and make others that haven’t had problems before an issue. I decided to leave south LA for Mississippi this year. It was a hard decision but I feared Terrebonne parish wasn’t somewhere I wanted to be 20 years from now.
