The horde—can we turn them away if they ask for amnesty?

And if we legally can’t, then why isn’t congress in session right now writing laws that allow us to?
Or granting the president the power he needs to secure the border and repell the horde?
What happened to the last horde? Are they awaiting a hearing to be deported? They have overrun our ability to hold hearings. Pure Cloward and Piven but the Republicans should be working to counter this before the mob arrives.
Thought?

Absolutely, the only country required to accept them is Guatemala if they wish to claim refuge status.
We are not required to even let them apply.

Didn’t we allow the last group to enter and file for refugee status?

As a signatory country to the Convention, we would be required to process their request for asylum ... if they manage to enter the country. This why we do not let them enter.
Some argue that we do not have even that obligation because we were not the first foreign country they entered. These people are wrong, according to about 99% of iimmigration lawyers.
As an historical matter, something like 80-90% of asylum requests have been denied. In this group, I would not be surprised if the denial ratio were not higher. This is clearly more a matter of protest for some and seeking economic opportunity for others. I doubt that there are many valid asylum-seekers in the group.

"No jobs" is not a qualification for amnesty.

Seeking asylum is crossing a border. Crossing multiple borders is not. It's an invasion.

The dead ex terrorist is far more important than a bunch of disease ridden, terrorist, hundreds of of pregnant women, drug carrying...and who knows what else is.

Why don’t they just get turned the frick away for no reason at all
Posted on 10/21/18 at 9:45 pm to AggieHank86
I understand it’s a bogus claim, but they aren’t filing through refugee centers. They are storming the gates and then claiming as asylum seekers. How many of the earlier group were allowed to stay while their case was considered?

Again, historically 80-90% of those requests have been denied. Maybe someone else knows the numbers for the folks in the last caravan.

A Bunch of good citizens should be waiting at the border with lots of roman candles and some big fireworks to welcome them.
Know what I mean?

Trump declares this a military matter.
Choot'em.
This never happens again.

But they will cross the border because we can’t stop them. We don’t have a wall. We can’t stop them on Mexico so we have to stop them after they cross the border. Unless the army rounds them up and sends them back.

There are no optics in hiring a coyote and crossing the border in the dead of night in a couple of months. Any tiny minority who do that (rather than going home) will not be seeking asylum. They will fade into America, get a job and be the same quiet residents as 99% of the illegals who are already here.

I’ve read where all our facilities are already overflowing. What else can we do besides stop force with force? Trump is right.
The Republican Congress needs to be, even if it isn’t necessary, authorizing the president all the authority he needs to prevent this horde from crossing the border.
Stand united.

if they are looking for amnesty they should have applied for it in Mexico, the first Country they came too, if they pass thru Mexico and to the USA they are an invasion.

Does anyone really think this is something spontaneous. It's a highly organized and choreographed protest march

They are picking up a lot more from Mexico,

1st step should be a phone call to the new Mexican President. Let him know, under no uncertain terms, that if this "caravan" reaches our border, all aid to the Mexican government will be cut immediately.
