Did Jews escaping Germany wave the German flag?
Did Vietnamese fleeing communism wave their flag?
Most German Jews loved their country, and I would not be surprised if they retained flags from the pre-Nazi period.

Likewise, most Vietnamese refugees were from the South, and it would not surprise me if they retained RVN flags.

I doubt that the Jews carried the Nazi flag or that RVN refugees carried the DRV flag.

I bet the Germans didn't wear "#indivisible" tee shirts either.

But I'm sure she just picked that up in a squalid village tienda in her native Honduras.

A friend of my ex-wife's father came from South Vietnam escaping communism as he was an officer in the South Vietnamese Army. His wife, unfortunately, was not able to escape till several years later and settled in Gretna.

While working the shrimp boats, Mr. Le decided to import music from his homeland and ended up starting a rather large karaoke business on the west bank. After Katrina, they moved to Houston where they live today.

I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Le at a baby shower for my ex's friend. I've been to the man's house. It took years but he was the epitome of the American dream. He was proud to have come to the US to escape oppression and to be an American citizen. There wasn't an RVN flag in his house but an American flag in the front yard.
