The only opinions that are changing is the opinions of conservatives toward Kanye. IMO you're overestimating the "Kanye Effect".
Some Blacks who are really into his career may have a change of heart. The problem with the Kanye Effect is that it focuses solely on culture and not economics. Most people vote a specific based on their economic situation. Blacks make up a large share of low wage earners, it will take more than a few celebrities to convince them to vote differently.

What about backlash against the idea that he's not entitled to his own opinion?

Definitely but this goes beyond Kanye. First, whether we want to admit it or not Kanye and Kim are one of the most powerful couples in the world. The cultural reach that these two have is truly unbelievable. The GOP has NEVER had the cool factor. It's always been uncool to be a Republican but we are seeing a paradigm shift here. It certainly isn't cool to support Trump yet but Kanye is the first cool person to do so.
The win lies not in Kanye or what he is saying but how the world reacts to him. And the Dems have everything to lose here and this is house money for Trump. People are watching how the left and media are treating him for speaking his mind. Trump only needs 15-20% of blacks to either not vote for Dems or come to his side and he has destroyed the Democratic Party.
You can smell their fear over this situation.
Trump will need to start delivering within the black community in policy next to seal the deal. CJ reform, MJ legalization, and even listening to them on some of the valid police issues would be a terrific start.

Please, please, PUULEEZE show me ANYTHING the dems have done to help the black family get stronger economically. Making sure Toby gets fed if he stays on the plantation ain’t exactly moving up in the world.
