Turn around and go home. Seriously. I hate that place with a passion.

Basically don't drink outside of the physical premises of the bar serving you and make sure your driver for the night is sober as a judge. Gainesville sucks.

Posted this on another thread so just reposting.

If you don’t have a tailgate, go to the Social at midtown. They have a ton of beer on draft and pretty good food. Also have a rooftop bar and it’s less than half a mile to the stadium. Stay away from midtown at night though, it will be crazy crowded and a lot of college kids.

Go downtown if you’re trying to go out at night. The Top downtown has great burgers, if you don’t mind a hipster vibe. There’s a barcade across the street that’s three stories with all the classics. In that same area, there’s a Cuban cocktail bar called Madrinas, they make pretty good craft cocktails. OAK is a decent bar/restaurant, go there if you like shuffleboard. Dragonfly is a Japanese restaurant that has great food but a little expensive.

If you like beer and have time to stop by a brewery, go by Swamphead or First Magnitude. They usually have food trucks and a lot of board games/drinking games. I’d recommend Swamphead as they cleared out a nice plot of land and you may see a gator or other wildlife out there. It’s a really nice brewery and good seasonal beer.

And regarding open container, you’re good if you’re on the south side of university avenue (on campus). I’ve never had an issue with an open container other areas but have heard the stories.

I'm guessing you weren't wearing LSU colors or you'd have a different story to tell.

Seriously, The UFPD don't just act like assholes to LSU fans, they go out of their way to act like assholes.

I've been on every campus in the SEC, and the UFPD is by far the worst.

Completely unprofessional group. I literally don't have a kind thing to say about them.

That’s because Florida isn’t a real southern state. It doesn’t have that true southern hospitality the way other places do. It’s full of Yankee Jews.

frick UF & frick Florida

Personally I’d go with Oxford, Tuscaloosa, Auburn or whichever East team we draw on that particular year. Obviously this year we have Georgia in br but if it were in Athens I’d go there no doubt.

I’ve been around Gainesville all my life. I’m old and don’t party anymore. My son is a student at UF.

I like Ballyhoo seafood restaurant and I also am a lifetime fan of Leaonard’s Pizza in Millohpper plaza.

The cops in Gainesville are assholes. Be very careful.

Traffic sucks and people drive really slow.

See you there.

Gainesville game day was really fun. I think they have a beautiful campus. There is a hamburger place across from the stadium. I think the name is Swamp. Good food. It's very busy so don't get in a rush. It's on West Univ Ave. It's an old 2 story building with the top floor open to see the downstairs area bar. Lot's of TV's. They have a giant burger with sunny side egg on it with other items as well. It was good.

Gainesville sucks. All the horror stories you’ll read are true.

I went once and never will again.

Gator alum here. Moved to south Florida, and started a family, so I hate to admit I haven’t been to a game in 5 years.

You can park on campus for free, but that fills up early. Best bet is to go north of the stadium and park in some ones yard if your not gonna tailgate.

Plenty of spots on university to get a burger and some beers. But, Gainesville police won’t be happy if you’re carrying a beer on the streets. Near your car, your good but don’t venture.

Post game, don’t hang out near the stadium, that’s for college kids who will yell at you cause LSU won or talk shite cause you lost.

Head downtown (university and main). Older crowd, better food, etc.

While 96% of gators fans will be respectful, I apologize for the 4% douche bags. Odds are they aren’t students or alumns
