Top 7 teams from AP with team pass rating in parenthesis
1. Alabama(1)
2. Georgia(5)
3. Clemson(21) * - ongoing QB shuffle that seems to probably be resolved now
4. Ohio State(3)
5. LSU(107)
6. Oklahoma(4)
7. Stanford(23)

I stopped at 7 because I think after that there is a pretty big drop off as far as teams that have a serious chance to contend for a conference title (outside of ND who recently made a change at QB and is independent)

ETA: Also of note West Virginia is #12 with a 3-0 record and has a passer rating of #2 overall

ETA Again - This would mean that the teams that are ranked 1-5 in passer rating are all undefeated and currently in the top 12. I don't know if I've seen this correlation so closely related to on field success before.

If this metric doesn't improve (and it was much better against Tech) we will run into some issues when we play Bama/UGA

They have the same or more overall talent and are far out performing us in this metric

The people that think our poor offensive numbers aren't an issue have their heads stuck in the sand. Relying on defensive takeaways to give you good field position and points isn't a sustainable strategy. Just look at what happened to Miami at the end of last year.

One way or another it will work its way out by the end of the season.

To Burrow's credit he has been making plays when it counts. Plays such as WR drops and good plays such as throw-aways go against his rating.

Burrow will continue to be a statistical anomaly if he continues to make plays when they count and not so much of a stat builder. With that said, his QBR should steadily get better as the season progresses, especially if the WRs stop the drops.

We are going to have to get a 2012 Mett type performance vs. Georgia and Bama. He and Burrow look similar early in the year, but Mett came out of nowhere and lit Bama up for 300 yds. Burrow is going to have to come out of nowhere and have similar production vs those 2 to have any type of chance.

I guess the running game, defense, and special teams must be playing pretty well. The passing game just needs to catch up.

College passer rating is weighted heavily towards yardage and TD's. It's not truly a measure of efficiency.
