It’ll probably be Boh or James, they should just form a joint venture for this project, no need to bid it out they have wheels greased.

It's ok guys. I hear Boh Bros. Will be doing the work.
Boh Bros will sub the bridge/elevated work which they are very good at. James can handle it and remember Austin Road and Bridge came in here, fricked up I-10 and was booted out. Not all out of town road builders are the same.

It will take years, cost a king’s ransom and when it is all said and done, the traffic will be just as bad due to induced demand.
When more lanes are added, it brings more traffic from people that sought alternate, less convenient routes beforehand until the previous level of congestion is met again.
Basically, the new capacity will be filled by a new influx of traffic and congestion will not improve

Screw adding one lane. Add 2-3 in each direction.
Fix it for future traffic, not the 1990’s traffic.

I had the same complaint about I-12. They tore it up for years to add one lane. It made some difference but they should have just four laned it in both directions to at least Walker.

Spend that money in St. Tammany. Frick BR.

I'd like to see a big vertical loop.
Just pass over the entire city.

Only one real fix other than a bypass loop, double deck it, lower deck for local traffic with on and off ramps, upper deck for through traffic no, or few on and off ramps, eventually extend it out to Denham S.

They actually seem to be pushing this through the process pretty quickly since about February.
I think we start seeing prelim construction in a year or less. Major work in less than 2.

This situation is made to order for a double decker solution.
No California earthquakes to worry about a collapse.

They are making the new spans wide enough for 13 foot wide shoulders inside and out.
So they can add two more lanes (10 total) by just re-striping and still keep overpass clearances and the outside shoulder.
It’s actually a pretty well thought out project by any standard. Extremely unusual for Louisiana.

I always assumed that's why the I-12 shoulders were made so wide. Those inside shoulders are easily wide enough for an additional lane.

Maybe they can talk to TXDOT to get some help
Isn't TXDOT in charge of the never ending construction on I-10 just past the LA border?

This happened on I-12.

They screwed up by not widening it past the river 25 years ago. It’s much better now.

Frankly, I think that big arse crane is gonna just sit there through the next governor's election. After that, the crane will be moved out and a return to bidness as usual. More talk and nothing done.

Now, that's not all bad because it means they're working and improving things. But, still, that's not necessarily evidence of a place that has road construction figured out.

The work will be done in phases that are projected to take between five and seven years
I can't live through 5-7 years of road construction in BR.
