Are you such a "homer" for the current regime that you cannot recognize any of this? Also, what has Dennis ever done? What has Damon ever done? These two are clueless. So much so they don't even realize how bad it is.

I can count. From around 2005 to 2015, the LSU trumpet numbers were between 65 - 80. The tuba numbers were 30 - 32 (Good instrumentation is 1 tuba per 10 members/325 = 32). The band had the instrumentation THEY WANTED because they cut around 100 to get there. The current band situation is MUCH different.

If you were to copy/paste a bit more than you did, it would be clear that this can be awarded ONCE to any college band (as other responders have already mentioned more than once). Also, more copying/pasting would make clear that "any committee member or band director may submit up to three bands for consideration." So initially, any Tom, Dick or Harry band director can submit up to three bands for consideration.

Furthermore, the Sudler award started in 1982. One might wonder why it took so long for LSU to win the award? According to your line of thinking, a "regime" change (as you like to call it) should IMMEDIATELY result in more accolades than the wildest imagination can conjure up. Then why did it originally take a full 20 years for TGBFTL to win it?

All you have are negative posts towards our current band and staff. I do notice the number of tubas are down but I'll bet that's a quality not quantity issue.

I watched the band practice at Coppell HS for about and hour and a half. As a retired principal and coach who was over fine arts at my school, I appreciated the way the directors handled the band. Everything I witnessed was positive... all critiques of mistakes were positive.

I like the direction that the band is going and I would hire any of the current directors if I was still a principal in a heartbeat.

The band director that I hired as a principal is now an assistant director of the Purdue University Marching Band, so I think I have a good idea of what a good band director/teacher should be like.

seriously? you are trying to gauge college bands (first of all, stupid) by "awards" (also stupid). that proves you aren't a music professional, at least not a good one.

i worked in the business for 20 years. i marched drum and bugle corps. i taught drill. all you have to do is watch the videos. i'm referring to the gimmicks. in regards to the gimmicks, they are identical. good grief

why are you acting like i hate frank/linda and love damon/dennis? frank and linda did an ok job. yeah, they were lazy. so what. damon and dennis might not be the best ever but they are also getting the job done. it's freaking college marching band. it's not dci. it's not winter guard. hell, it's not even lousiana showcase. it's just for fun.
