Thursday games are almost always awful.

Keep it on Sunday and the one MNF game. Or put two bye weeks in the season at least.

Those people saying that NFL "doesn't belong on Thursday night" need to be able to grasp that such a sentiment is clearly irrelevant on the opening Thursday night, and therefore irrelevant to this thread for a variety of reasons.

1. The argument against TNF is that players can't recover in 3.5 days and therefore the quality isn't good - not relevant to this conversation.

2. This is an apples to apples comparison of this year's opening TNF game to all other recent opening TNF games. Your critique is irrelevant.

3. We stand for our beautiful anthem or we shed 25% of viewers from NFL's heyday.

That has nothing to do with last night. It's the first game of the season. There was no lack of rest or preparation. I am more than fine with opening Thursday night because it feels like an event. I agree with you about the rest of the Thursdays, except for Thanksgiving.
