Start -> Run -> type:
cmd
Then hit the Enter button on your keyboard or click the OK button on the Run window.
Type:
ping www.yahoo.com
Do you see something like this:
Pinging atsv2-fp-shed.wg1.b.yahoo.com [72.30.35.10] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 72.30.35.10: bytes=32 time=54ms TTL=251
Reply from 72.30.35.10: bytes=32 time=57ms TTL=251
Reply from 72.30.35.10: bytes=32 time=52ms TTL=251
Reply from 72.30.35.10: bytes=32 time=52ms TTL=251
If you get no replies (and especially if it does not resolve the yahoo address to an IP) then try plugging the laptop directly into your router and try running the ping command again.
Let us know the results.
