and also had opportunities to play for Auburn and Michigan.
Intelligent guy that wanted to play with the big boys.
“After Atkins and his family traveled to Baton Rouge, La., this past weekend for an official visit, the versatile Atkins knew he had found the perfect spot.
“I honestly fell in love with everything about it,” Atkins said. “The people were great, the campus was beautiful and the facilities were nice; everything there just really felt like home. After I was done with it, I just knew that was where I wanted to go.
“I narrowed it down pretty fast. I knew if I was going to the Ivy League, I was going to go to Yale; that narrowed down the Ivy League schools. And then, I just kind of went through the trips and see where I felt like a part of the team already. After going to LSU, it blew everything away.”

I’m glad he decided to become a tiger.

Never underestimate the importance of the KO guy.
He was instumental in the win the other night
McMahon has done an A+ job with special teams

Pad that undergrad GPA and go to a top grad school

Serious question though, how’s his field goal kicking? Can he take over when Tracy leaves?

Thank God Cornell didn’t offer.

We have the #2 kicker in the country committed for next year; so I doubt we will need Atkins to do anything more than what he is doing now.

Is he capable of setting the NCAA FG record?
Seriously, in the right situation do we put him in for the game ending 70 yarder?

Happy he decided to pick us. He kicked really well on Sunday.

I get what you are trying to say; but Culp wasn’t even a composite top 10 kicker coming in.
If Barrister pops into this thread, he could probably offer a lot more expertise on this than I could.

Culp was rated 80 by 247, York is 78
Culp was a .8195 composite, York slightly higher than .8197
Culp was number 4 for Chris Sailer
They are very similarly rated.
I’m not trying to say you’re wrong about York, but kickers are often a lottery whether they’ll be good in college and he’s far from a sure thing.

I agree. If you can get an Ivy League education, get it.

If he graduates with good grades, he will qualify for grad school at any of those universities. Maybe he can take the Matt Mauck route and make a little bank in the league and then go get that expensive degree after.
